Lemonade stand, etc.!
Our granddaughter wanted to have a lemonade stand, despite the fact that we live at the end of a rather long road to nowhere…NO traffic. But it’s the spirit of the thing that counts, so we put up our market canopy and she painted a beautiful sign!
Little darling. Finally her family arrived for the birthday party for her two little brothers, and bought a few glasses…here we all are, with Mouse the Temple Dog -
And a few party pics – it’s funny – there’s a warning on the box that these came in that says “NOT a flying toy!”

Ratz.
I couldn’t get anywhere near our new HEB. The parking lot was full and cars were parked up and down the side street! They had kiosks in the parking lot, too, with free BBQ, seafood, ice cream, sodas…but alas, I missed it all. I might go back this evening.

Heather?
Is this heather? It has been coming up at the north end of our septic field for about 4 years now, and is quite pretty.
I have a vague recollection of tossing out some dead flowers that my husband had brought to me…and they contained heather. Hmm.
We are having lots of rumbly thunder with the occasional REALLY LOUD BOOM…and a few sprinkles. A cozy, gray morning. The dogs are a nervous wreck, though, due to the thunder.

Interesting evening…
Never set down a basket of eggs…not even for a minute -
And never carry a feed can under your arm…it could have a critter in it!
Fortunately it didn’t bite me…and I did squish it after taking it’s picture.
We had a pretty sunset -
The Geckos came out -
The girls got spooked so I went in to talk to them…got a great picture of Blanca’s tum – she is SO WIDE. I cannot understand why she hasn’t given birth yet!!
Tomorrow I am going to go eat lunch with my granddaughter at school. I’m very excited! She is, too. I’m going to take her a mini-eclair from Central Market. Yes, I will get one for myself, too…. =)

Potpourri
My homegrown potpourri! This mix does not contain juniper fronds or berries -
Oh, and I did not grow the limes and oranges….but they ARE grown in Texas! =)
There is sweet bay, culinary sage, spearmint, horse mint, crape myrtle flowers, roses and rose petals, sunflower petals, shasta daisies, marigolds, purple verbena, millet grass seed heads, lavender, and lemon verbena. It’s very pretty…very antique looking. It has a nice fragrance on it’s own, but I have added lavender EO scented cellulose fixative.

Babies!
Here they are – all four! Aren’t they cute!! They are filling out, with feathers, and looking like real birds now. They waddle around like little aliens of some sort.
This is how they hide whenever mama love bird sounds the alarm. They run back into their box and put their chests against the back wall – I can just imagine them saying “ha, ha, you can’t see me!”
They come out of the box a lot – I think it’s too hot in there for one thing. But they’re also coming out, hopping down into the feed pan, and having a good nose around. Or rather, a good beak around. I know mama must be glad they are beginning to feed themselves! Their favorite food is baby lettuces of various kinds, spinach, apples and raisins.

Scrappy Cat
Our wild cat, Shadow, sleeping in a shelf on the back porch, with our son’s weights – it doesn’t look comfy, but then I’m not a cat! He is so scrappy….and so old….
And I also found him, the other day, sleeping on the step on the side of the old truck out back -
It’s odd that he’s hanging about more. He’s always stayed out in the fields.
