Nada Omelet

Or…not an omelet…I have never been able to flip an omelet.  BUT, I make great scrambled eggs with “stuff” in them.  This had diced ham, spring onion tops, red and orange sweet peppers, and Monterrey Jack cheese with jalapenos.

What possessed me to make such a breakfast this morning?  Well,  I accidentally ended up on a page, online, about Julia Child, who I absolutely adore.

What a wonderful lady – and what a fascinating life!  I used to watch her show all the time, and have four of her cookbooks.   I also very much loved the movie Julie and Julia – especially Meryl Streep’s portrayal of Julia.

Good Fences …

…make good neighbors.   Well, it’s not true.  We are about to put up a third fence on our east side, and our neighbors STILL refuse to help physically or contribute financially.  Their cows continue to ruin our fence…

The greenish, unattached posts over near the cows are basically on the property line.   Our older east fence has always been inside our property about 10 inches.  Their cows, especially the longhorns, have torn it to pieces and pushed it over.   They were making holes in the fencing with their horns, so the dogs were soon going to be able to go through.  We finally started putting up expensive stock panels to keep our dogs on our side.
NOW, the cows are pushing on our stock panels!  Our east fence  is soon going to be out west fence if we can’t get something done about their cows.  The more we fix and/or replace our fence, the more their cows come in to our property.  We should charge them for back rent!!

Pretty sunset!

A beautiful close to a busy day -

That’s not the moon – just a drop of moisture or something.

Orange Mint

I finally got the soap made and poured…added orange and spearmint essential oils, and oats.   It smells heavenly at this point – but so often, the fragrances fade during the inferno part of the process.  We’ll see what happens!

I’ve done the washing up, so after while, I’ll go out and prepare everything for making soap again in the morning….and I will NOT forget to make the ice blocks or put the frozen milk in the fridge tonight!!

Forgetful Me…

Yesterday evening I got everything ready to make soap this morning…forgot to put the frozen goat milk into the fridge to become slushy overnight, and forgot to make ice blocks for the ice bath for mixing with the lye with the milk.   So I have been working on another organic cotton washcloth…

I have also made a hand maker badge (see on the right side of my blog), and made  Valentines for my son and my younger daughter -

The ice is almost frozen and the milk is almost slushy, so….off to my cottage!

Paper Bags

I love paper bags – plastic bags are awful.   I always ask for paper bags at the grocery store, and they look at me like I’m asking for money.

Central Market has really nice paper bags and a really nice sentiment written on them -

Pretty soap!

And…

I asked my husband to make a new mold for me that is wider and shallower, so I can cut flat bars, not standing bars.  He happened to have the wood and made it right away!   Now I can turn out the loaf and cut just an inch deep, instead of three inches, and it’ll be MUCH easier to make a straight cut.   I have great difficulty slicing straight down, even with a miter box!  The loaf moves…so this should really solve some annoyances!!  YAY!!

Night out!

My husband and I went to see Keb’ Mo’ last night and it was a great performance!

We got there a little bit early so we sat on the terrace and had a glass of wine, and watched life’s night parade go by below – here is a picture of a Cinderella carriage – we have GOT to take Hazel downtown for a ride!!

She could dress up in one of her princess outfits – wouldn’t that be cute.

We also saw lots of pedicabs – it’s a bike with a covered trailer welded to the back, with room for two on the bench seat.  A person pedals the bike and takes people where they want to go, rain or shine, cold or hot.

We also saw a long line of people on Segways rolling along…my husband filmed them going by.  I want a Segway!  Well, I reckon a golf cart would be far more useful out here…

And here’s me -

The Segway video, at last -

Doesn’t it look like fun!?   But I think I’d giggle too much.

I took a good many pics but haven’t transferred them to my computer yet.  We saw some interesting things – a man across the street stopped, stood still for a few moments, then started talking to people only he could see, and waving his arms about.   Then he lay down on the sidewalk and didn’t move for a long time.   A man finally went over to talk to him…he got up and they sauntered off, the guy jabbering away and gesturing wildly.

Lots of horse drawn carriages went by.  The horses were gorgeous.  They have the right-of-way, but this one young woman roared up behind one and started honking, can you believe it!  What an idiot.
